Become Much More Productive with A Faster Windows XP
A slow personal computer should be history. In this day of innovations and technology, using a slow personal computer will give you the idea of living through ancient times. It is for this reason that people always find how to speed up their personal computers.
If you are experiencing this, then this is the correct place. Yes, there is a lot of tweaking and modifying involved in speeding up a PC. But hey, these effortless things are worth a try.
Here is some of the tweaking I did to speed up my Windows:
> Its irritating to wait for menu delays. Cut down the time it takes for menu transitions by right-clicking your desktop. Choose Properties and Select the Effects tab. Unmark the Animate windows menu lists. For those who use Windows XP, this can be done by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing Properties, selecting the Appearance tab, choosing the Effects option and uncheck Use the following transition effects for menus and tooltips, then Click OK.
> Speed up Windows Start Up by cleaning out the applications you dont need at start-up. For those who use Windows 98, you can do this through Start menu and clicking Run. Then enter MSConfig.exe and then choose OK. select the Start up tab then deselect the programs you want to disablethrough the startup. As you see, you can only speed start up Windows if you cut down the softwares that PC needs to run.
> Defrag may be an old school process but it doesnt fail to help anyone who has speed problems. Find the defrag option under your System Tools menu from the Accessories or Start Tab. Make sure that you dedicate a time for defragging. Running different software as the same time as defragging confines the process itself.
> Choosing to install your software would be best if you always experience errors. Run a virus scan before you back up all of your important files Moreover, make sure that you have a back up copy of your harware drives before erasing files from your hard drvies Reinstalling your software could run for as long as an hour or more.
> This is a very basic tip that you should regularly do: Remove any unused programs. Applications, whether you are utilizing them or not, eat up space in your hard disk. If you arent utilizing them, then is there still a need to keep them?
